Just a warning to anyone thinking of opening a savings account or
fixed rate bond with West Brom. To quote from an email received "we
presently face an administration delay of up to 28 days to provide
confirmation of an investment".

During this 28 days they will hold onto your proof of ID e.g.
passport/driving licence or whatever and will not acknowledge receipt.
You will have to ring to confirm they received the documents.

I have today received confirmation of my fixed rate bond investment
and my driving licence etc but interest will start to be earned 20
days after they received my cheque! This would cost me £57 but, of
course, I won't let them get away with this.

They claim to be the 9th biggest building society but, with service
like this, I wonder whether they will keep that position.
