Well, you could always send it back to Apple for a replacement. But that
would be foolish given how easy it is to DIY.
Strangely, it's not actually unusual for modern electronic devices to
have 'non-user servicable' batteries.
My iPaq and last few Palm handhelds have all been sealed rechargable
devices.

Because I like to have the majority of my music collection with me, so I
don't have to make a decision before I leave the house concerning the
type of music I want to listen to on my drive home at 4pm?
