Personally I don't like The Economist and its neo-con claptrap.  The UK 
pension system was introduced by the Liberal Party based on Bismark's 
scheme, then, as now, it was not supposed to be the sole source of 
revenue in old age.

It is clear that a pension system needs to be financially sound not 
based on an ever expanding number of contributors whjch is the 
Economist's point.
