I think you still get charged the "cash handling" fee, you just avoid getting
charged interest.

Cheapest possible way is to open a flex account and withdraw cash from that.
That's even cheaper than paying for stuff by credit card in those establishments
which rip you off by using dynamic currency conversion (where they covert the
currency to pounds at the POS with a nice bit of commission built into the
rate) - you can't avoid this using a Nationwide credit card.
