I used to live less than one block from the Mterolink/BNSF tracks. I
lived in that house for two years, and the noise never bothered me.
Like you, after a while I didn't even notice when the trains went by.
These days I live about a mile from those same tracks, although I'm
now a little farther to the east and thus closer to a grade crossing.
It's amazing how far the sound of train horns will carry - I can hear
them loud and clear if my windows are open. It's noticeable, but not
particularly bothersome - if I'm asleep, they won't wake me up.
