I live almost 3 miles from the closest train crossing. Dead quiet
neighborhood all the time. At the crossing (3 miles away), I can hear the
train blow it's whistles on the MIDNIGHT run!
I feel sorry for people who live near that. How the hell can you NOT get
woken up every single time? That has to be brutally loud.
I still don't understand the stupidity of blowing a train horn at that time
of night. There is a full RR crossing and gates with flashing red lights.
Anyone who crosses that deserves to get whacked. A train whistle certainly
isn't going to stop them at that point.
