I agree that this is unlikely to be a vent problem.  Sounds like there
is an obstruction somewhere that the waste builds up on and clogs, then
the clog colapses from the weight of the water and allows passage.

Next time it clogs, apply a "plumbers friend" with great vigor.

Are you missing a tooth brush or a disposable razor or any such item
that might have been flushed down?  Running a snake down the drain might
pay off.
