You could lend it to a friend to pay it off his mortgage  :-)

You can get 5% at ING or 4.9% with Halifax's websaver.

Over 3 years the difference between 5% and 7% on £3k is only £116, so
it's not worth expending too much effort on trying to achieve the extra.
