It sounds real easy. You could attach the posts to the houses. How you
do that depends upon the structure.
Also, for such a small fence you could sink metal posts in that 5" of
dirt. I use an auger attached to a drill. The size of both depends on
your needs. I can go down about 4' and that's plenty. I still think
some support would be needed at the top with an attachment to the
structure.
