Hi group, I'm pretty sure some of you have this same problem. I have a
pretty cheap-looking garage door, it is the swing-up type, made of
aluminum. It's probably 15 years old, and the pop rivets that hold the
frame members together are all about missing (pulled through).
The garage door opener has also bent the upper part of the door frame,
which is probably half the reason why so many rivets are missing!
I was considering TIG-welding the door frame together. If this isn't a
good idea, please let me know. The previous owner tried repairing the
door with sheet metal screws, so now my garage floor is littered with
sheet metal screws - until they end up in a tire!
