Not sure if this is straying from the topic of financial planning...

I don't think there's any hotel/airline card that can do
better than just getting 1% cash back (there are several
that offer even more).  That way you can just shop around
for the best hotel deal when you travel and you don't have
to worry about points expiring, blackout dates and the
like.  [If you get 1 point per dollar spent and if it takes
20000 points to get a hotel room, it is worth it only
if you can't find a similar room for <= $200.]

I've only ever had one "points" card and I got it at the time
when 1% cash back cards didn't exist (or at least weren't
that prevelant).  At this point, I don't really need
anything that the points can get me, and all the points I have
are about to expire at the end of this year.  So I'm going
to be forced to get something I don't care for.  I've stopped
using the card for a while now, and once I get this thing
that I don't really need, I'll be closing the account.
