Alliance-Leicester (A&L) Internet Banking "Available balance".
A few days back I transferred some funds from one account to another
(Both within A&L). I checked the available balance and did the
transfer, that very night A&L removed funds that were in clearing but
were not showing on my available balance. This pushed me into the
red, guess what they charged me £50 for the privilege.
When I queried this, they told me they would reduce the fine to £25
(out of the kindness of their hearts) but I should have checked the
available balance. I explained that I did and that it is not showing
items in clearing but they disbelieved me.
I have now done several screen prints and sent them back with my
formal letter of complaint, but wondered if I am alone???
At one point I was told by Mr. Dubuisson at the Ashford site "the
available balance does not always indicate the true figure available
and if you do not trust Internet Banking, can I suggest that you call
Customer Services…"
I will never use Internet Banking again, what is the point if I need
to check every stage with Customer (LOL) Services.
