Foreclosure is a legal process where you and the lender have a set of
rights that will be enforcible in court. There is usually a redemption
period where you can pay the bill. You still may be able to work out a
deal with the lender.
This is a matter that is important enough that you should consult with
an attorney (for some reason folks that give you the runaround pick up
the phone when an attorney calls. Contact your local "legal aid" or
"legal services" provider (if you qualify you will receive services
for free or low cost) or your local bar association for an attorney.
Good luck
