I confirmed my understanding of how this works, from the same website:
"The monthly advances continue for as long as you live in your home,
even if the total amount you receive exceeds the value of your home.
Despite this, you will never owe more than what the home is worth."
I don't understand your objection to this type of transaction - it
seems ideal for an older retired person of limited means. Can you
please go into more detail...
