You have an answer to this from someone else that knows. I hope that
sorts your problem.
I have just had a funny experience from an insurance co. (online) that
had insured my motor for the past twelve months. They were quite
reluctant to carry out my instructions of cancelling the monthly direct
debit at the end of the year's insurance (April 14th). Saying "We can't
guarantee to hold that price" three times over. Despite me saying that's
ok! I don't want you to.
Having found cover for £100.00 less I requested a renewal form with my
>10years NCD from the old co. They sent it and it only covered the
4years you mention despite them giving me 9 years plus on my previous
insurance with them. On asking them they said that's their policy and
they're sticking to it.
My new insurers would only give me the 4 years unless I had
documentation that proved otherwise. Two previous insurers kindly gave
me renewal documents which covered the periods up to 19 years before so
all was well in the end. But it just goes to show what competition does.
Oh yes, they keep the documentation as well as proof. I hope they return
it at the end of the year.
