Subject: septic field grading
Date: 5 Aug 2004 13:31:38 -0700

I was hoping something could offer their advice on this. Our septic
field is a gravity drained field that is on about a roughly 20-25
degree downhill slope behind our house. I was hoping to put a
mid-sized playset over the field (similar to what a nearby neighbor
has done), but the current grading is a bit too steep. If I added dirt
from another part of the yard to the lower part of the slope and
perhaps even took a little bit off the top part, just to make the
slope perhaps 10 or so degress, would this be significant enough to
cause a problem?

I'm not looking to flatten it all out, since I still want water to
runoff the field. I asked a level pads guy about it and he wouldn't
have been able to do it, because he would have to bring a truck over
the field. I could probably do it myself with a small Bobcat.

Anyone opinions would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Joe
