Good advice, but the pros don't test every joint - they install a test
gage and pressurize the installation and let it sit overnight. This
isn't something a home owner can easily do. I think gas installations
should be done 100% by the local codes - permit, professional
installation, pressure testing, and inspection (if called for in the
permit).
The results of a leaking gas line are simply too gruesome to consider.
And explaining to a prospective buyer why the pipes weren't put in by
a pro could get sticky.
