The more information you collect the better. If and when you make any calls, 
combine that approach with further reading, not only in newsgroups, but also 
in books and unbiased web sites. Here is one very good place to gather

I think you will find that if you take your time and study a while, you will 
move from what you call a "vulnerable" position to a "knowledgeable" 
position sooner than you might think!
