Having just been through all this, I can assure you that 4 out of 4
financial institutions were able to transfer money direct to The Revenue
within 24 hrs on written authority from the executor who is, after all,
normally named in the will. What would happen with no will, or no named
executor, I'm not sure, but the system wouldn't function at all if nothing
were released before probate.
