The rent could be a real issue, *IF* the LL will not give them a
pro-rated partial month, but insists on another full month.  In that
case someone might rationally want to close so as to minimize the
period of double housing expense.  However, that is completely
separate from the myth of greater mortgage expense to close early in
the month.

But no matter what you say, this person will never see the light, she
will twist and turn to make it come out her way.  Dollars to day on
the new place, it comes out the same, in fact the later you close the
less the total expense as there are fewer days of ownership.  It all
evens out in 2 months or so anyway, but there is no convincing her.
