Hom much money are we talking about? Most major credit card companies
will not do anything so drastic unless its a very large amount and has
gone on for a long time. If its a lot spread across many cards then
they are each treaded seperatlly from a collection stand point. Most
will call and harass you daily and eventiually be willing to work with
you. If you owe it you should pay it.
If its a single card then talk with them about optiions. It may take
you of NOT paying anything for several months to get there attention
but most will work with you. You will get a ding on your credit rating
but thats sounds like a pretty much given issue here.
