Subject: Advice - Registering Limited Company name

Hi, am developing a new business but won't be starting it
for a year. However, I want to protect the business name.
I will be registering the internet domains but can I or
should I register the company at companies house?
If I did that would that company as far as they are concerned be
up and running and I'd have to file all the relevant documents and accounts?
Is there anywhere I can protect the business name properly
without it costing very much?
