That was also an option to me, along with getting someone to act as a
guarantor for me.

In the end, I passed all the agent's credit checks and was able to
continue renting on a month-by-month basis.

To the OP: there's no need to worry yourself unnecessarily; you have
plenty of options, as long as you don't blow your redundancy payment on a
new sports car! ;-)
