The bottom fell out of the market. Prices dropped to as
low as 1/3 to to 1/4 of what was previously considered to
be market value. Many big projects failed. You were not
able to even give away some kinds of properties. It wasn't
until the mid 90's that things leveled off, and the late
90's where the current boom started. Those who go in
around 1992 to 1995 picked up some fantastic bargains.
Florida real estate goes in cycles like this. Around
1900/1910, prices on land was even higher than it is
today. By 1920, those same properties were worth only
pennies. We have seen several ups and downs since then,
and we will see the current market go down. It is just
a matter of time.
