When we moved to our current house our old house sat empty for a few
months during the winter. The top of one of the doors warped incredibly
during that time, like several inches. The house was 10 years old and
we'd never had a problem with it. The door closed but you could see
into the room (a bathroom) so I had to replace it. What happened? I
mentioned it to the builder of my current home and he said it was
probably due to low humidity.
A while after we moved into our new house we had the opposite problem.
It was incredibly hot and humid (for here) one summer and our AC failed
(was fixed under warranty). The week it was out a couple doors started
sticking.
