Subject: do failed DD's affect future credit rating?
Date: 8 Oct 2003 05:21:04 -0700
I have recently switched bank accounts. The old account is still
active but has only a couple of quid in it to keep it alive (in case I
decide I want to go back to it).
My problem is that a particular company with whom I have a DD
arrangement keep trying to apply the DD to the old account, even
though they have the new account details. The payment bounces through
lack of funds and they send me a letter. Every month I speak to them
on the phone and they are very apologetic and say the new details are
on their computer so they can't understand why this happened and
promise it won't happen again - but it has been ongoing for 3 months
so far. This company offers to pay any charges incurred.
But the thing that worries me: is there a record kept somewhere of
these failed DD's that will affect my future credit rating?
I have written to the bank cancelling all dd's on the old acct but not
before a couple of these failed transactions occurred.
thanks,
LH
