How are things connected to your TV? I'm just guessing you have the
direct tv hooked up to your vcr and play through that. I have the
red/white/yellow cables going from my Directv to my TV but I'm guessing
if it's an old tv you don't have that ability.
If you have the red/white/yellow cables running into your tv, you can
use something like this:

And you can get one at walmart etc. also.
But if you don't have the cables like that, and are just using your
black 'coax cable' then you would need some sort of converter to change
from the 3 cables to the regular coax. Or maybe they make a box with
coax coming out of the back of it. Perhaps a trip to a radio shack might
now be a bad idea.
Here is a switch that you could change from one coax to another and if
you spend 20 bucks more, it can be a remote controlled switch. And I'm
sure someone has one with 3 coax inputs if you need one. The challenge I
was talking about before was if you use the red/white/yellow setup and
want to have all that feed into coax.

Hope I was clear. Any more questions please post in the group.
