Tom,
I just moved from Little Rock, Arkansas to a house north of Albuquerque. We
used United Van Lines, which happens to own Mayflower. Except for the fact that
the move was terribly stressful for me, they made it a lot easier. It wasn't
cheap, but I would recommend our mover (driver) to anyone. He lives in New
Mexico. I don't know if he ever works from California, but I assume he operates
all over. I found him and his crew to be very reliable. United provided me
with all the boxes I needed at no expense (free) to me. I've just about given
all of them away to people that are moving away from here. We had some minor
damage and it was addressed but the damage was under our deductible. No big
deal. I repaired the table myself. No hidden surcharges. I think I got about
the best service I could get.
