We live in Cleveland OH & decided to re-window our 1940 home that I
grew up in. My grandfather built it for my mom's wedding present. It
has oreil (sp)design windows (2/3 bottom, 1/3 top). I phoned 15
companies in Ohio for estimates, some with their heat trapper that is
basically a piece of Saran wrap in between the 2 glass frames.
Everyone told me I would be using 50/50 windows. I was not going to
change my grandfather's creation.
So I got on the Net & did oriel search & got SIMONTON WINDOWS. Sure
enough on the web site are my windows. They even included the grids
that resemble the wood crossings in the glass (but they are inside &
easy cleaning).
14 window for under $4K, $1680 to install with amish guys who wrapped
the house in plastic on January 20 to do the work. No cold air inthe
house at all.
The windows have locks in them, that you can open to 2" & they lock
for when you are gone from the house. We have windows that open from
the top, bathroom with glazed glass, so no one can see us & our awning
keeps rain out.
Many folks in Ohio, Michigan, Indiana & Pennsylvania speak my praise
for them.
