Subject: Two line telephone doesn't work with Line 1+2
Date: 13 Oct 2003 08:27:25 -0700

I recently had a second phone line installed. I had a 2 line splitter
(ABACON 267C -Line 1 / Line 2). I am able to connect two separate
phones, or toggle the plugs to access the two separate lines.

I purchased a 2-line GE phone (29460GE2). The instructions told me to
attach the line to the Line 1+2 outlet on the phone, but only one line
works.

I then went and purchased an RCA splitter (3-way: Line 1, Line 2, Line
1+2) and connected from Line 1+2 to the Line 1+2 outlet on the phone -
still only one line works.

The only way to get both lines to work is to use the splitter to split
into Line 1 and Line 2, and plug into Line 1+2 and Line 2 respectively
on the phone using two cords.

The GE instructions indicate only one cord is required, unless the
lines are on two separate modular outlets.

Any ideas why "Line 1+2" connected to "Line 1+2" with a single cord
doesn't work?

Thanks.
