Same here. When I closed on my house about 7 years ago, what happened was
this:
Real Estate agent (guy passed away last year in a hunting accident) took me
in for the final inspection just before closing. I asked if I could have
the garage door openers so I could open the doors when I got done with
closing and he said "nope!". Same thing with the keys. Explained I'd get
'em at the closing and not before--makes perfect sense to me--if something
goes wrong.....
Got the keys and everything at closing. and then proceeded to work on
moving.
So when you close, the property is yours. Sounds to me like you didn't
close and/or are a victim of a scam.
