Get a Samsung. It's a toploader but doesn't have an agitator that
wears out your clothes. Well. there is a small agi about the size
of a baseball that delivers water pulses which provide the cleaning
action along with the to-fro motion of the main drum. Lint is caught
in a couple of small net bags. It washes clothes just fine, spin RPM
is not quite as fast as some other machines, slower than the old
gentle annie, but the clothes come out drier. Average wash time for
a full load on auto coldwash is about 55mins. It's quiet, It
plays a cute little ditty when finished. It was recommended to me
by someone from the NZ ngs a couple of years ago.
And bieng a toploader, you can pop in the sock that you dropped on
the way from the bedroom after the wash has started.
I got it from Bond&Bond, I asked them why they didn't have any F&P
machines and they said that F&P wouldn't allow them to stock any
other brand if they stocked F&P. About the same time my sisinlaw
bought an F&P SDrive and has so far had the pump (which is not covered
by warranty) repaired twice, not to mention that hers was a 5KG and
cost as much or more than the Sammy 6.5.
F&P can go get stuffed as far as I am concerned. Having said that
the 30odd year old F&P drier is still going, I keep it running with
spare parts I pick up from inorganic rubbish collection every year.
But that unit was made in the day when they made things PROPERLY.
eeeee...those were't days.
