As an experienced note buyer and seller (and no, I don't want to buy your
note) be sure you are dealing with the person who writes the check. There
are 100 note-buying brokers who post your note on the internet for every
true buyer.
An easy way to find out - ask how much they will pay for the note. Do not
have them "get back to you in a few days" which transalates to "I have to
post it to the 1000 websites around the globe, see if I can generate some
business" Have them ask you questions over the phone, fill out/sign
nothing. Sign nothing. Sign nothing. Sign nothing.
If they come back with a number, it only takes 5 days max to get the deal
done. Set a deadline. Close by X date or forget it. If the number they are
paying is right, and you know you will get paid (get references) who cares
who it is?
