I'm inclined to agree, but on the other hand you don't want the place
to be so unattractive that it acts as a tengam to potential buyers.

Not everyone has the sense to treat poor decor as a plus-point ("oh
goody, it needs redecorated and I can do it my way") rather than
a turn-off ("what a dump, I wouldn't want to live there!").
